Can you improve on a legend? Should you mess with a good thing? Fortunately,
LP designers had Santana's esteemed percussionist Karl
Perazzo at hand
when they pondered these eternal questions. When tweaking his signature
timbales, he sought specific improvements sure to resonate with all
players. Thus, an already popular drum is destined to become even more
popular in 2009.
Constructed in LP's factory under stringent quality control standards,
LP Karl Perazzo Timbales feature a new profile metal hoop that makes
playing consistent rimshots a breeze. Timbaleros know that less "sunken" rim-to-batterhead
clearances assist players in connecting simultaneously with stick shaft
and tip. Rimshots become easier to execute and cut throught the wall
of sound.
With the groove in mind, revamped LP Karl Perazzo Timbales have a
wider space on the shell for the cascara, the funky, dancing rhythm
played on the shell which underscores Afro-Cuban song forms. LP designers
simply repositioned the shell ribbing, thereby broadening the sticking
area and affording an open, broader tone that cuts. The combination
of long-sustaining steel shell coated in elegant antiqued bronze is
as easy on the eyes as it is the ears!
Traditional tuning, purists take note, is still de rigeur, but LP Karl
Perazzo Timbales feature subtle improvements in lug mechanisms. Tensioning
is smoother and drummers will find that they can tune to finer pitch
gradations. Topping it off, the new bell holder will hold multiple
bells, blcks and other percussion instruments.
Karl Perazzo is the last person to tamper with a successful formula.
Hey, take a look at his career! The fine adjustments Karl Perazzo and
LP have made have inmproved the ease of playing, broad tone, brighter
cascaras, and sophisticated tensioning are going to score big in 2009.
Who would turn away from a gorgeous pair of Perazzo signature timbales-especially
considering the unbelievably modest sticker price.
